WHY I'm Running
SOCIAL JUSTICE ADVOCATE FOR STATE ASSEMBLY
As a child of immigrants, I saw firsthand both the struggles people face as well as how we can overcome them. Our community is inclusive and progressive, and I want to continue to grow and strengthen that legacy. As a longtime resident of the Central Coast, it is important to me to work with others to create a community where all are treated with respect, dignity and can exercise their full potential.
For over 22 years, my partner and I have made Santa Barbara our home. The Counties of Santa Barbara and Ventura have been the places where we work and volunteer. This is where we walk our dogs, exercise, share the fruits of our garden with neighbors, and meet with friends to share a meal to discuss current events affecting the nation and community. But I know I can do more for our community.
I have dedicated my adult life to addressing sexual assault and domestic violence and advocating for civil rights for working-class families and under-represented communities. Now, I want to use that same energy and the experience I gained to stand up for, you, the people of the 37th assembly district.
We need an assembly member who will protect our environment and will fight for those struggling day to day.
We must preserve our democracy and work fiercely to ensure that we are addressing issues that affect our daily lives. As your assembly member, I will work to develop more affordable housing, create good-paying jobs, strengthen education right here in our district, and stop offshore drilling to preserve our beautiful environment for generations to experience. With your help, I will develop and implement solutions to our most pressing social, economic and environmental issues.
In California, we have the opportunity to continue to create a future that reflects our values of caring for each other and caring for our natural resources. If elected to represent the residents of the 37th Assembly District, I will never forget that I work for you. I would be honored to fight for you, your family, and all our communities in need like I have my entire life.
